Previously unseen footage of the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises was unveiled on Tuesday at CinemaCon. And according to reports from both AP and Collider the scenes show an older weathered Batman, certainly his life on the run from the law has had its impact. The new scenes showed “action on the streets of Gotham, plenty of explosions, the Bat Cave” and “Bruce Wayne with a cane”. Steve Weintraub of Collider called the action “phenomenal”.
Also, it seems that Bane’s audio from the previously released IMAX prologue has been cleaned up. Following the release of the 7 minute prologue last year there had been comments that Bane’s audio was muffled and at times indiscernible. It was previously thought that Nolan would not completely change this even though studio execs may have worried about its impact on the movie’s box office returns. The new cleaned up audio makes it seem as if “he’s standing next to you”. However, it is unclear whether Nolan made this adjustment only for the CinemaCon reel.
Last week Nolan Fans reported that the third trailer for The Dark Knight Rises will be attached to The Avengers. Although both movies are made by different studios this won’t be the first time a DC trailer has preceeded a Marvel movie. In 2008 the third trailer for The Dark Knight previewed before Iron Man. However, it isn’t gauranteed that every print of The Avengers will feature The Dark Knight Rises trailer.
The third and final installment of Nolan’s Batman franchise will see newcomers Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt join returning cast Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman.
Filming took place in India, England, Scotland, New York, Los Angeles and Pittsburgh.
The Dark Knight Rises will hit theaters on July 20th.
