Two images from Tarantino’s latest cinematic effort Django Unchained have been released. According to the official synopsis found on Collider the movie is about “a slave [Jamie Foxx] whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz [Christoph Waltz]. Shultz is on the trail of the muredrous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty.”

Along the way the two cross paths with Leonardo DiCaprio‘s villainous character Calvin Candie. A deranged plantation owner who likes to have his strongest slaves fight to the death. His plantation is also where Django’s wife happens to end up.
In a time that slavery is still a sensitive subject Jamie Foxx thinks the movie will be controversial. After all Tarantino is better known for his violent exploitive storytelling than knack for historical accuracy (the man had Hitler gunned down in a cinema) or exploration of cultural issues and sensitivity but Foxx tells EW that there is a maturity to Django Unchained. “You’ve seen movies deal with slavery — or westerns that never dealt with slavery — do it the safe way. This way is like…wow,” the actor says.
The movie hits theaters on December 25.
